Journey of Mani — Episode 5 | The Student Mind
You always know who you are. But some days you feel different. Some days feel bad. Why is that? Is it your mindset — or is it that the situation itself isn’t good?
Let me tell you what happened to me.
The Move
I left my state, my city, and moved to a completely new one to begin my college journey. And for the first time in my life, I felt alone. Even after I made friends, I felt different from my peers. I genuinely felt like I didn’t belong here.
Why Did It Happen?
I think I have an answer. It’s not really about you. It’s because your environment changed. Your friends might not share the same mindset you have, and keeping up with that becomes exhausting. But I think that’s okay — at least you learn to adjust.
Adjusting Without Losing Yourself
I don’t particularly like my current environment. Or most of my so-called friends, honestly. But you know how it is — you can’t just isolate yourself. I live in a hostel now. As a teenager, I’m going through a transition — I have to manage my studies, my personality, my personal work, and everything else that comes with it. Sometimes you have to pretend a little, just to keep moving.
But how does all of that actually happen?
Losing Time With Myself
Here’s the thing — I’ve always been someone who can spend endless time with myself, doing nothing, and genuinely enjoy it. That’s exactly what I lost here. I didn’t get enough time to just be with myself.
What I’ve Learned
So here’s my take: spend time with yourself. Develop your skills. And remember one thing — you already know what you want to do. It’s within you. Just find it.
Trust me, nothing — absolutely nothing — is more important than that. So do whatever you believe is right for yourself, for your purpose. Yeah, you might feel alone. You might feel exhausted. That’s okay.
Let’s do it together. We will make it. We will always win eventually.
Failure is just an intangible fee you pay to grasp what you’re chasing. But here, in Journey of Mani, you don’t have to pay anything. You just have to stick with me — like a koala. And I’ll always be your favorite tree.
